Color + Clean Verticals (Cinematography)

Premium video is subtle: believable color, clean lines, and a consistent grade that supports the design and brand. These FAQs explain how I approach mixed lighting, reflections, and geometry so your film feels polished—not filtered.

1) What do you mean by “clean verticals” in video?

It means architectural lines stay stable and straight—walls don’t feel like they’re leaning, and the frame feels intentional. In video, this comes from lens choice, camera height, and controlled movement—not heavy “fix it in post.”

2) Why do some walkthrough videos feel warped?

Ultra-wide lenses and fast movement can create stretching on edges and unstable geometry. I keep movement slower and more controlled, with focal lengths that preserve proportion so the space feels premium and accurate.

3) How do you keep color natural in mixed lighting?

Mixed lighting (daylight + warm lamps + LEDs) is the most common challenge. I balance it intentionally in capture and in grading so whites stay clean, wood tones stay rich, and the film feels consistent scene to scene.

4) Can you match brand colors or a reference look?

Yes. If you have brand standards, reference films, or a specific aesthetic (clean/neutral, warm and inviting, moody and cinematic), share them. I’ll align the grade so the final film feels on-brand.

5) Do you use heavy filters or “orange/teal” looks?

No. My default approach is refined and true-to-life. The goal is timeless: accurate materials, clean skin tones (if people are present), and a grade that enhances the space without making it look stylized or dated.

6) How do you handle windows that blow out?

We plan around light. Sometimes the view is essential; sometimes it’s secondary. I expose to keep interiors clean and readable, and balance windows so they feel natural—without turning everything into HDR.

7) What about flicker from LEDs and screens?

Flicker can happen under certain LED fixtures and screen refresh rates. I plan camera settings to reduce flicker at capture. If a specific fixture is a problem, we can adjust scene lighting or angle to keep it clean.

8) How do you handle reflections (glass, mirrors, TVs, stainless)?

Reflections are managed through camera position and lighting choices. The goal is clean surfaces and minimal distractions, while keeping the space believable and not “scrubbed” into something artificial.

9) Will the film look consistent from scene to scene?

Yes—consistency is a priority. The grade is built to keep tones stable across rooms and angles so the film feels cohesive, especially when it’s used alongside your still photography.

10) Do you stabilize footage?

Footage is captured to be stable first (gimbal/control), then refined as needed. The goal is smooth movement that feels premium, not “floaty” or overly digital.

11) Can you match the video finish to your photo work?

Yes. If your project includes stills and video, I align the finish so everything feels like one cohesive brand library— consistent color, tone, and overall polish.
