Licensing + Scheduling (Aerial)

Aerial shoots depend on a few variables that ground photography doesn’t—airspace, weather, and safe launch areas. These FAQs cover how usage/licensing is handled and how we schedule drone coverage so it’s dependable and professional.

1) Do we “own” the aerial photos?

You’re licensing usage of the finished images (how they can be used), while I retain the copyright as the creator. Your proposal outlines the license clearly so your team can publish with confidence.

2) What’s typically included in an aerial license?

Most projects include marketing usage for the commissioning client: website, social, email, PR, and print collateral. If you need broader usage (multi-location rollouts, corporate brand usage, or extended campaigns), we’ll structure the license accordingly.

3) Can we use aerial images in paid ads?

Paid advertising can be included, but it should be specified—ads typically have wider reach and heavier repetition than organic usage. Tell me the channels and duration and I’ll align the license to the campaign.

4) What if a third party wants to use the aerial images (agency, architect, developer, management company)?

Third-party usage is handled as a separate license (or a defined add-on) so rights are clear and everyone is protected. If you already know who needs usage, we can account for it up front.

5) Are you FAA-certified to fly commercially?

Yes—FAA Part 107 certified. Flights are planned and executed within compliant operating requirements, which keeps production professional, safe, and dependable.

6) How far in advance should we schedule drone coverage?

Earlier is better—especially if the location is near controlled airspace or if you need twilight. Once I understand scope and priorities, I’ll recommend the right scheduling window and capture plan.

7) What do you need from us to confirm the shoot?

The address, intended usage, and your priorities (frontage, amenities, context). If there are access considerations (gates, security, rooftop restrictions), share them up front so the day runs smoothly.

8) What happens if the weather is bad?

Weather matters for aerial. High winds, heavy rain, and low visibility can limit safe flight or reduce image quality. If conditions aren’t right, we reschedule to protect safety and deliverables. Your booking terms outline notice windows and reschedule details.

9) What about airspace restrictions near airports or sensitive areas?

Some locations have controlled or restricted airspace. I plan flights within compliant operating requirements and capture what’s possible safely and professionally. If restrictions affect coverage, I’ll communicate it up front.

10) What’s the typical turnaround time?

Turnaround depends on scope and retouching needs. If you have a deadline (launch, campaign date, announcement), share it up front and I’ll structure a delivery plan that supports it.

11) Can we add aerial to an existing shoot day?

Yes—when timing and conditions make sense. Aerial can be added to architecture/interiors, hospitality, or commercial coverage to complete the story with context and scale.
